Promptus 1200
ISDN BRI Extension over G.703 or X.21
The Promptus 1200 is the ideal solution to provide a
cost-effective communications infrastructure for both telecom
carriers and enterprise networks.
One device is needed at each end of the link, connected to
each other over one 2 Mbps G.703/E1/T1 line. Up to 12 remote
ISDN Basic Rate Interfaces (S or U inter-faces), and
additional data up to 1.536 Mbps, can be transmitted.
Additionally, Promptus 1200 can be used to build an ISDN
infrastructure using existing 4-wire copper lines, HDSL or
fiber.
Full Transparency
The Promptus 1200 is protocol-independent and transmits the
ISDN D-/B-channels fully transparently. In this way all ISDN
applications and all ISDN network proto-cols (DSS1, NI1,
QSIG, CORNET etc.) are supported – worldwide.
Capabilities
The ISDN BRIs of the Promptus 1200 can be set to LT or NT
mode. This makes it possible to provide:
• ISDN extensions (Basic Rate S- or Uk0 interfaces)
• ISDN PBX extensions (Basic Rate S- or Up0
–interfaces)
• ISDN dedicated links for PBX-to-PBX or LAN-to-LAN
interconnections.
In device configurations with 4 or 8 BRIs, the additional
X.21 interface can be used to provide up to 1,536 kbps for
high-speed data applications. Alternatively, an addi-tional
G.703 interface can be used in place of the X.21 interface,
to cross-connect (cascade) Promptus 1200 devices, for
example.
The 2 Mbps G.703 link can be provided over wireless optical
or laser systems, xDSL 2/4-wire copper lines, fiber or
terrestrial leased lines. E1/T1 dedicated lines are supported
as well.
Powerful Network Management
Powerful and user-friendly management software tools allow
local and remote configuration and monitoring of Promptus
1200 links from a standard PC.

Features
The Promptus 1200 is a fully transparent
multiplexer that enables users to extend 4, 8 or 12 ISDN BRIs
(S or U inter-faces) over standard communi-cations cables
with 2 Mbps. Additional data can be trans-mitted in
combination with the extending of up to 8 BRIs. Optional
fiber optic and HDSL interfaces are also available to provide
the most cost-effective ISDN infrastructures, whether in a
single building, in the local loop or worldwide.
