ISDN PRI Extension over G.703 or X.21
The Promptus 1400 is the best solution for extending an ISDN
PRI, as well as for creating E1 or X.21 dedicated links over
existing private or public communications
infrastructures.
The Promptus 1400 devices can be delivered as desktop,
wall-mountable or rack-mountable (double Euro format)
devices.
The Product Concept
The Promptus 1400 PRI-Long or X.21-Long devices provide ISDN
PRI, E1 or X.21 interfaces over single or double-pair HDSL
connections. Both structured E1 and unstructured E1
interfaces are supported., as well as fractional PRI/E1.
One device is needed at each end of the link, connected to
each other over one or two copper pairs by the 2 Mbps HDSL
connection. All application data is transmitted between them
fully transparently. In cases where the range is not long
enough, the Promptus 1450-REP HDSL repeater can be added to
double the distance.
Application
The Promptus 1400 PRI-Long is configured with one PRI/E1
interface. It connects remote PRI subscriber or terminal
equipment to a local PBX, or cross-connects two PBXs. The
Promptus 1400 X.21-Long is equipped with one X.21 interface
and allows the connection of remote LAN or data terminal
equipment to a local data network (such as a LAN). When two
Promptus 1400s are connected each to other through their HDSL
interface, one of them is always configured as master and
supplies external clocking from the PRI/ E1 or X.21
interface. The other Promptus 1400, configured as slave, is
clocked from the 2 or 4-wire HDSL interface. The Promptus
1400 is provided with management software for Windows 9x/NT.
This allows both local and remote configuration and control
of both Promptus 1400 devices connected to each other over
the HDSL link.

Features
The Promptus 1400 is an innovative HDSL transmission system
providing full transparent ISDN PRI/E1 or X.21 links over one
or two copper pairs. The Promptus 1400 uses the 2B1Q (ETSI)
coding for trans-mission, which permits distances of up to
5.1 km over two-pair buried cable (0.6 mm), or of up to 4.5
km over a single pair.
